This was is a timelapse video of my FIRST open house. A total of about 28 people stopped by, which I think was a great turnout. I think due to the fact that I was the "New Guy". April 26, 2016 - Coloring the Rocks in the Gorge Scene

Part 2 - More Coloring of Rock Molds with Artist's Oils.
Просмотров 6 тыс.8 лет назад
Continuing with the coloration of the rocks. Once the latex gray wash has thoroughly dried on the rock molds, you want to come in and apply some artists oil paints. Very small dabs of this paint are all that you need. It is very strong. You're going to soak the dabs of paint with a thinner that is compatible with the oil paints. This causes a very neat effect representing mineral deposits and r...
Part 1 - Coloring Rock Molds with Paint Washes

Here's a neat technique that I discovered while building a diorama with my daughter. After I plastered all of my rock molds onto the scenery base, I sprayed all of them with deluded Tints-All pigments named Van Dyke Brown, and Raw Umber. After that dried I give it a wash made from interior light gray latex paint, diluted with water and IPA alcohol. The thin gray wash allows the brown undertones...

    • @MineMountModels
      @MineMountModels 10 месяцев назад

      I would think so. Just the dyes are not as concentrated. Also, the latex part of the paint might make the soft sponginess a little stiffer after it dries. This is just my thoughts. No scientific evidence.

    You know it’s funny about two weeks ago I just started doing almost this exact thing except I was using acrylic paint from Walmart for around $.53 a bottle. The Kelley green looked really good. Except I was taking larger chunks and cutting them up with the scissors, consistently over and over again and I often try to figure out what would work to make them finer. Thank you for the video. This helps a lot!!!

    Great information. Thank you for sharing this. Technical suggestion: Audio levels need to be better balanced. The transition music just blasts our ears. Also, your narration with the blender open was drowned out by the blender motor. Most video programs allow you to do overdubs and/or mix audio channels. Cheers.

    Great layout of the Lehigh Valley railroad that Ralph DeBlasi built & operates. I’m very impressed with it. 7 members of my family worked for the Lehigh Valley railroad out of Coxton Yard. My great grandfather Stephen Kearney I was an engineer for them, 4 grand uncles & 2 second cousins all worked for the Lehigh Valley railroad from about 1868 up to when it became Conrail in 1976. I’m an N scale model railroader & my. N scale model railroad is the Pacific West Coast railroad. My layout will focus on the West Coast of North America that will focus from 1974 to the present from Tijuana, Baja California Norte, Mexico to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada & it will focus on the railroads that have served & service the West Coast.

    I like the color you got from the avacado tint. I made quite a bit of this ground foam ground cover last year. I got a huge amont of foam from the left overs of the apartment next door's new carpet project. I still have several coffee cans full of uncolored foam that I ground in a coffee bean blender (no water for that technique). I used regular artists acrylic paints for coloring my ground cover. I got that avacado color by adding some burnt umber to the grass green blend I had already mixed for several batches. Thank you Ron, your tutorial turned out very nice.

    Hi Ron. Just found the videos on the Garden State Division web site. Nice work. Suggestions. 1. File the ends of cut rails in the following ways: the bottom as you showed, square the ends you showed , plus bevel the tops if the base flanges each side of the web and taper each side of the flange. The rail join ers will slip on easier without spreading and hold better. Has your NMRA gauge to check your track. One side of the gauge has a center probe that you can use to check the centering of your rails against your pencil centerline.

    Hi just found this video and it was exactly what I was looking for, so thank you for that. I have a question for you that I hope you can help me with, I now thanks to your video understand power districts but do you use the feed from the output of each breaker to power the turnouts as well as the track? Or do you use a separate breaker to supply power to the turnouts? Hope this makes sense.

    • @MineMountModels
      @MineMountModels 3 года назад

      I would run a separate power supply to run your switch motors. If you mean power to the track of the switches, then you use power from each break, depending on which district your switches are in.
